PRIM AND PROPER PRINCESS

Prim and Proper Princess are the words they scoff.
Leaving her to wonder if it’s wrong to be soft.
She doesn’t want to be glared at,
But she can feel her porcelain face crack.
Why do we push porcelain dolls to be a G.I. Joe?
Not everyone is putting on a show.
Is it wrong for her to be sheltered?
For some reason we feel the need to hurt her.
To cause her to struggle with sin.
Causing fractures on her fine skin.
Maybe she’s innocent because she can’t handle darkness.
Now we are insisting on her sickness.
We are not God, so who are we to decide?
Whether or not this angel needs to see the dark side.
Are we not putting a stumbling block at her feet?
For porcelain dolls it makes the fall steep.
They do not survive like a teddy bear.
They shatter without tender care.
Isn’t she something to be protected?
Instead we prefer the word neglected.
Saying, “It’s just the way of life.”
Continuing the cycle of strife.
As the fragile princess cracks.
We wonder what caused her collapse.
Upon her new found character change.
People become a critic and slowly estranged.
There are plenty of G. I. Joes who are zealous.
Sometimes we need people who can keep what’s precious.
