It is said that sorrow is better than laughter.
It is a spiritual practice that is an anchor.
Pouring forth a joy when secure in the redeemer.
Let our souls rest in the trust we find at the cross.
It holds a joyous serenity even during loss.
When lowly the spirit springs forth a heavenly song.
How does the down cast overflow with worship all day long?
Our souls need to be comforted by the comforter.
The insatiable need to praise God when your heart hurts.
It is a song so rich in the comforter’s peace.
Smile’s accompanied by tears may not cease,
But his loving kindness lives on forever.
It may be hard to see how a sad face is better.
The answer is in how Christ provokes us.
Walking in the valley gives a heavenly focus.
It is sorrow that gives wisdom to the fool.
As long as we learn that sorrow is a tool.
Sorrow’s worship is the sweetest reflection of God’s word.
It is a humbling praise in response to what we have heard.
Let our hearts pour forth a worship so serene,
That darkness makes us want to sing.
“It is good, It is good” upon our lips.
When sanctification has us coming to grips.
The holy spirit gives us the words when we don’t know what to say.
How can we say it’s not beautiful, how sorrow makes us pray?

Hi, I am R.D. Jess. I am a christian writer and postpartum doula. My relationship with my God is not a religion but a state of who I am. I love being there for others and find that writing the hard truth is the best way to make people feel less alone.
