HOLY ASSEMBLY

A building that doesn’t provide sanctuary is not a shelter.
It’s not a place of refuge if it causes fear to stir.
A building isn’t a church if you can’t be a part of the assembly.
If the sanctified causes an unholy form of trembling.
Is it discipleship if my bible and I are constrained?
Is it discipleship if my faith stumbles or becomes stained?
Too much for many, but not enough for others,
Each soul needs something different than the other brothers.
Some need a call to action, while others need the reminder to rest.
Not every moment needs to be proven with a test.
So thirsty and withering away, one must go and find a well.
Being careful not to blame the past or accuse it as hell.
Bow your weary head and he will give you rest.
Redemption in God’s hands is truly best.
How refreshing is the walk on a Sunday morning,
When it feels like the cool water of the gospel pouring.
When God leads you to the watering hole.
A building can be used to feed starving souls.
Let us marvel at the Godly design of fellowship.
It springs up in a soul and causes the lips to worship.
Renewed reverence for the word of the lamb.
A light to our feet illuminated by grace’s lamp.
If your soul is tired and weary, go and drink from the well.
Trust thee, your soul is affected by where you dwell.
Rest your mind, body, and spirit in the sabbath of your king.
Then you will feel the loving tug of your master’s string.

I do not think it is a church that causes one to walk a way…
Nor do I think it is a place to make someone stay.
It can be a tool for either Gods work or of the enemy. Neither being the absolute of a church.
The only absolute is that God will use it for the good and for His glory.
Whether here on earth or one day in heaven. Sometimes you need to grow where you are planted, while other times…
You need to go where you can grow.
Ultimately it is up to God to lead you to which path He has in store for you.
seek Him and He will lead you. Psalm 23:3, John 16: 13-15, Psalm 26:11

Hi, I am R.D. Jess. I am a christian writer and postpartum doula. My relationship with my God is not a religion but a state of who I am. I love being there for others and find that writing the hard truth is the best way to make people feel less alone.
