Weary Tired Something, didn’t feel the sun on its skin.
R.D. Jess
Weary Tired Something was numb and didn’t care to win.
It was nothing and something all wrapped into one.
Feeling agony crouching out at its door,
But not flinching at the horror.
Its body burned and trembled within,
But wouldn’t dare to show it on its skin.
It cried without feeling or knowing why.
Weary Tired Something figured it was shy.
Until it didn’t tremble under something’s foot.
When someone wiped its face clear of soot.
When Weary Tired Something was told it wasn’t nothing.
That everything was created to be something.
Starting with why it felt like nothing.
It learned it could enjoy fun things.
For by enjoying it, to God be the glory it brings.
It became confident in being separate from ridicule.
It didn’t care if malice laughter was cruel.
It saw the sun break through the dark clouds.
Like love had cast aside all the doubts.
In radiant colors it felt the warmth break through skin.
Giving a warm hug to the weary heart within.
Numbness melted into the finest sensations.
Agony was as distant as the imagination.
It wasn’t weary or tired anymore.
Now that it walked away from the horror.
Sparks flew when it heard delight in its laugh.
“Is that me?” it asked itself on its behalf.
With weary and tired gone, what was left was left to be found.
For now it can feel its feet firmly on the ground.
Weary Tired Something now has a name.
Peace and life is free for it to claim.
Its lungs can take in the sweet taste of air.
Life, life abundantly that it can repair.
Secure because its identity was planted in time.
Not from chance, but long before birds chime.
Made not for others just like “it”.
But for the one who’s goodness is perfect .
The hand that turned darkness to light in a flash.
Does not see Weary Tired Something as trash.
Nor does Weary Tired Something think that anymore.
Now that it’s felt the joy of learning to soar.
Darkness to light is a journey.
One turning the lowly to worthy.
By a grace uncommon to man.
For the awestruck wonder of a greater plan.
