DARKNESS

Darkness has blinded my eyes.
Hatred was welling up inside.
Darkness has stumbled my steps.
While bitterness slowly crept.
How does one find the path?
When covered in darkness’s wrath.
They don’t, unless led by a lamp,
To where the Lord may encamp.
Where is your heart?
Why did it depart?
Was it swallowed up in darkness,
Cut by evil’s sharpness?
Let my heart abide.
There will be its guide.
Detest what is evil.
For it is an upheaval.
But cling to what is right.
So that you may see the light.
For light and darkness can’t abide,
But instead the war divides.

Hi, I am R.D. Jess. I am a christian writer and postpartum doula. My relationship with my God is not a religion but a state of who I am. I love being there for others and find that writing the hard truth is the best way to make people feel less alone.
