Awaken

We wake every morning half asleep, stumbling over everything. Wake up! I call out yet not a word is to be found. We are a tired nation fast asleep. We walk around with our eyes closed, no wonder we are sinking deep. Will someone awaken me? Seriously this is breaking me. What happened to family, friends, Neighbors alike. I will tell you this, you live with selfish strife. Stop fighting blind folded, your not that good. Stop filling your life with stuff that will perish. Ask your self, does this really matter. If your honest this is making yourself fatter. I’m not just talking about food, but all those things you do just for you.

I want to scream. Wake up, wake up. Stop covering up with make up. Stop hiding with stuff. It will all fade away. Here for a while then gone in the midst of shame. Why oh, Why do you make yourselves a slave? You do realize it is you who has put you in chains. Responsibility a violent enemy, I will drown it with something. Numbing you from accomplishing anything. We never sleep because we never awakened from our slumber. Watch the light grow dimmer.

Wake up, your children are in front of you. This is the hurtful truth, they will be gone soon. If you hold the knife to their throat, the blade will turn more close. Wake up a woke nation, your not actually awake. You claim equality while discriminating me based off the color of my skin. Shouldn’t we be pasted this? Unfortunately this matter is being played like a game, and for what? Our own selfish gain? This is getting to political for me. Stop wearing crowns like a king. How about we recognize that we too will pass away. Your name no matter how great will fade. The good old days never stay.

If we lay in bed with our eyes open wide, tell me. Did today add up to anything? Sleep walkers ram into each other, offended by each other. Everyone’s blade is sharp, no wonder we return home bleeding on the cold floor. You say do not judge, in that very phrase you made yourself the judge. No sacrifice filled with compassion, evil reigns in our sons. Passed down from generation to generation. Different seeds same arrogation. I am asking everyone one to wake up and look in the mirror. The face staring back at you is the one stealing the air. Awaken I call out, not just to myself, but also to you. The answer is we are the fools. Selfishness is keeping you asleep. Can you awaken yourself to see, this is our enemy at our feet.

I am a lover of writings and over the years I have collected a handful of poems and stories I have written. The more I wrote the more I realized I should do something with it, besides putting it in a box.
