Haunted By you

Is it possible to be haunted? this is a loaded question, one that kept my mind awake. So I climbed out of bed and put the kettle on. Let me tell you why I can’t sleep tonight. I hear their giggles from long ago; a life changing moment, it had been a long time since I felt whole. Those kids from the Philippines carry a sweet memory. Their voices echo in my head, like every kid I have ever taken care of. I didn’t speak their language, but we communicated well. I hadn’t smiled like that for a while. I see the games we played in flashes, I swear I see us even when I am buying groceries. I feel the sand underneath my feet, my hair bouncing around freely. We played peak-a-boo as you hid in my friends hammock.

All my fears were not present, I was truly me. you taught me your version of tag and I keep thinking why do you like me? A question that I constantly ask myself around kids, because I feel like I don’t deserve it. I guess that is God reminding me, how He feels about me. I can still feel how wide my grin was. It most of reflected yours, because it was the widest I have ever seen. My friends called me into town with them, at some point you found me again. I could breath again, what weight had I been carrying? I might not ever see you again, but you always haunt me.

Those are always bitter sweet visits, when I hear your laughter among the others. No one knows I am always followed by the ghost of those I have tended to. So yes it is possible to be haunted, I am just glad I am haunted by you. Thank you for a moment of healing. When we met, I was still healing. Now I am back to the woman I was in Christ. Heads up, God will break you, so that He can heal what was already broken. Now I have to write, because God won’t let me sleep until I do. I pray for you and all the children I have ever taken care of.

I am a lover of writings and over the years I have collected a handful of poems and stories I have written. The more I wrote the more I realized I should do something with it, besides putting it in a box.
