The revealing waltz

She stood in a dark room staring at herself, forced to see herself as mirrors lined every inch of a dark room. It called attention to her and how she felt about herself. The young lady stood in a dress adorn in pounds of lace, pearls and diamonds. The dress was black and fit for a queen, as the pounds of fabric encased the young woman. She thought to herself, ” This should be beautiful, exciting but I don’t feel this way. I feel as if I am swallowed be this dress, I hate the person I have become. Nothing about this seems like me, I look in this mirror and feel as if I am starring at someone else. I carry a burden that I never intended to pick up, or did I pick it up not knowing of the consequences of my actions. When did I become like this, why have I allowed this to happen. How could I not see that this is who I was becoming, or is this just a cover up of who I really am. I am disgusted as my reality reveals who I am, I don’t want to see her face.” she turns from the mirror in front of her, not able to bare her own disgrace. Every where she turns she is faced with herself, mirror after mirror revealing someone she hates. No escape, bound to the faults that burden her shoulders. Frantically she looks for a way out and decides there is none, she closes her eyes. As if, not seeing something means it is not real.

A man enters the room and takes her hand, He whispers in her ear to dance with Him. Comforted by His presence she takes the offer. The dance at first proved to be hard with the dress she wore, but found ease as she leaned into the man. The man kept telling her to trust Him, that He would take care of her problems. He said ” I know who you are, and this is not you. Your Character is not defined by your mistakes, but you are found valuable since I love you. Your beauty is etched in your obedience to me, who you have hated in the mirror is sin distortion of you. I cleansed you from that distortion, you are my canvas of something pure. You have the choice to wake up and be either who you saw in the mirror or who I created you to be. Daily take up this cross, and you will see that it makes you look more like me. You will no longer be burdened with this dress, you will carry my yoke. My yoke is light, allowing you to dance with ease.” she pressed deeply into Him, not carrying about the things that weighed her down. In fact she felt that the more she danced with this man, the lighter she became. The movement from something of a fairy tale, the rhythm something of harmonies. Her dress transforming from black to white, moving from hues as it set on the purest of white. The weight of the dress shifted to a light and flowy dress, almost innocent in manner. The mirrors faded away and the music stopped. The two pulled away and the man walked out a door that had appeared. She was left with the words hanging in the air, “walk with me”. She walked to the door and turned the knob.
